Three overarching principles assure a quality product and complete client satisfaction:
- a rigorous and disciplined production process (the RACER™ method)
- informal solicitation of client feedback throughout the project, to help tailor my approach to the client's preferences
- a formal feedback process at the end of each project, to help further customize my working relationship with the client
The RACER™ method
I apply the following production process to every project:
Research
As an experienced lawyer, financial analyst, scientist and business person, I'm skilled in finding facts that are most salient to a particular inquiry. While interviewing people who may have a connection with a story, I'm thorough yet respectful, and I protect the anonymity and confidentiality of my sources to the fullest extent of the law.
Analysis
Extensive education and experience enable me to perceive both forests and trees, swiftly identify the most relevant and promising avenues of investigation, and derive well-founded conclusions from the available evidence and its relative credibility. I'm equally comfortable interpreting numerical data, convoluted text, and amorphous abstractions.
Conception
Creativity, innovation, and useful context are the fruits of my labours in this phase. I strive to produce a piece that expands the bounds of what already exists.
Expression
I aim to produce an engaging, accurate, and stylish connection to the ultimate reader, viewer or listener, and I work in harmony with my clients to ensure the end product is to their complete satisfaction.
Results
A client normally has a desired outcome in mind when commissioning, optioning or buying rights to a project. Whatever that objective is, I tailor my approach to best accomplish it in an ethical and professional manner.
Client feedback
I've seen in other businesses that although a client may find some aspect of a project to be at variance with their own preferences, he or she may be reluctant to raise the issue. A minor annoyance can grow in significance over time unless it is promptly rectified through pro-active communication from the service provider.
By contrast, I encourage every client to advise me of any concern that may arise at any time during the production process, and after completion of each project I seek the client's feedback on all aspects of the final product and the process by which we achieved it.
Because I invite, welcome and promptly act on client feedback, my clients are confident that I'm prepared to change any aspect of our working relationship to best suit their needs.
